Opening of Air Force One

August 13, 2013 @ 12:00 PM
Nixon Presidential Library

Join us for the unveiling of a new exhibit featuring a 1/20 scale, 7 foot model of Air Force One SAM 26000 – the plane on which President Nixon flew thousands of miles around the world, including as the first President to visit the People’s Republic of China and the Soviet Union.

The free ceremony will include remarks about the majestic craft and President Nixon’s time on board from Ed Nixon, the 37th President’s younger brother; Dwight Chapin, President Nixon’s Deputy Assistant who flew with him to China and the Soviet Union; and Frank Gannon, a member of RN’s staff who flew with him many times, including on his last trip as President to Orange County and worked with him on his Memoirs.
