Popular actor turned director Ron Howard, head of Imagine Entertainment, toured the Library recently with Foundation executive director John H. Taylor and the new Library director, Dr. Tim Naftali, to prepare for producing and directing a feature film based on the Frost/Nixon televised news interviews of 1971.
Afterwords, he sat down with Taylor, Naftali and staff members to learn more about the 37th President.
Howard bought the movie rights to the London stage dramatization of the interviews between British talk show host David Frost and President Nixon and plans on starting production in the fall.
He and award winning writer Peter Morgan spent four hours touring the galleries, birthplace, Loker Center and viewing the biographical movie, “In the Arena” covering RN’s life. “This is day one of research to learn more about Richard Nixon the man and the President,” Howard said, “and we felt there’s no better place to begin than the Nixon Presidential Library.”
