Recognizing Those Who Gave the Ultimate Sacrifice
More than 50 Gold Star families — those that lost loved ones fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam — were honored Sunday at the Nixon Foundation’s seventh annual Honoring Hometown Heroes ceremony.
Included among the group was the family of Technical Sergeant Richard Bernard Fitzgibbon, Jr. USAF, the first American to lose his life in Vietnam.
NHRA funny car world champion “Fast Jack” Beckman presented the personalized ornaments to each of the families.
The program was moderated by Air Force Col. Wayne Scott (Retired).
