Statement by President Nixon’s daughters Tricia Nixon Cox and Julie Nixon Eisenhower on the passing of President George H.W. Bush
Our father believed in George H.W. Bush. Richard Nixon kicked off George Bush’s campaign for Congress in 1966, encouraged him to run for Senate in 1970, entrusted him as his U.N. Ambassador and head of the RNC, and supported him tirelessly when he served as President for four years.
George H.W. Bush lived a life that was purposeful, and extraordinarily rewarding — for our nation, and for our world.
While people everywhere salute and thank George H.W. Bush today, we take special solace in knowing that President and Mrs. Bush are together again.

President Nixon pushed the future President Bush to run for U.S. Senate in 1970, and actively campaigned for him. When Bush lost, RN appointed him Ambassador to the UN in 1971. He was later made Chairman of the RNC in 1973. pic.twitter.com/9L9tuYHGTD
