Last week on June 20, the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles commemorated the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Alliance with an event held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.

This event focused on bridging the past, present, and future of our two nations. Remarks were delivered by Youngwan Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles, Jim Byron, President and CEO of the Richard Nixon Foundation, and virtual remarks from U.S. Representative Young Kim.

Korea’s Ambassador for Peace Medal was awarded to the late General Richard Whitcomb. His daughter, Taejung Min, President of the Whitcomb House of Hope Foundation, accepted it on his behalf.

Following the award presentation, a traditional Korean Coming-of-Age Ceremony was held followed by a seminar on the ROK-U.S. Alliance.
