Nonpartisan Grand Strategy Summit Gathers Senior Officials & Policy Specialists to Chart American Foreign Policy

The Richard Nixon Foundation will convene its annual Grand Strategy Summit on September 25, 2024, at The Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C. beginning at 9:00 am EDT. 

The Grand Strategy Summit is a platform for senior officials in and out of government, business leaders and media influencers to discuss and debate American foreign policy, developing actionable objectives and coalescing ideas into a comprehensive grand strategy for the 21st century. 

As President, Richard Nixon implemented a visionary foreign policy that prioritized America’s interests, particularly with regard to his historic opening to the People’s Republic of China in 1972, his initiation of detente with the Soviet Union and his efforts to broker a more lasting peace in the Middle East. 

The Grand Strategy Summit was launched in 2022 and is completely nonpartisan. 

Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien, 27th National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Richard Nixon Foundation’s Board of Directors, will open the Grand Strategy Summit with a conversation with Jim Byron, President and CEO of the Richard Nixon Foundation.

Four discussions will convene, including:

Building a More Just Society at Home, 9:45 AM EDT
President Nixon said, “a democratic country with a weak economy will have a weak foreign policy.” This panel will explore the ideal future of America: a strong economy, a diversified industrial base, wage growth, healthcare, and education improvements, all of which safeguard national security.

As wars in Ukraine and the Middle East continue to capture global attention, this panel will discuss the impact of global conflicts on the future of great power competition.
