Vice President Dick Cheney made his first West Coast appearance at the Nixon Library Wednesday since the launch of his explosive new political memoir, In My Time.
More than 750 people packed the East Room to hear the Vice President – accompanied on-stage by daughter and co-author Liz – talk about his more than 40 years in the public arena including his beginnings in the Nixon administration working under Donald Rumsfeld at the Office of Economic Opportunity and the Cost of Living Council, as well as his rise to Chief-of-Staff during the Ford years, his tenure in U.S. Congress as Wyoming’s sole representative, and his return to the executive branch as Secretary of Defense.
On the heels of the 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2011, Vice President Cheney also discussed his role in the Bush White House and the tough decisions that were made following the attacks that shook the nation, and during the course of the fight against global terrorism.
