There wasn’t anyone as closely involved as Dwight Chapin, then candidate Nixon’s personal aide. Chapin went on to serve as President Nixon’s appointments Secretary, and Deputy Assistant to the president. He’s been at the center of some of the most monumental events of the Nixon Presidency including serving as Acting Director of Protocol during the historic trip to China in 1972. He also oversaw the White House Television Office and Presidential Travel.
