The Nixon Seminar on Conservative Realism and National Security will convene for its final program on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 5:00 PM PT with co-chairs Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien and Secretary Mike Pompeo, and special guest Stephen Hadley, the 20th National Security Adviser, who served President George W. Bush. Mary Kissel, former senior advisor to Secretary Pompeo and Nixon Seminar member, will moderate the discussion. Secretary Pompeo and Stephen Hadley will be participating virtually.
For this final gathering, Seminar Members will reflect on, examine and consider the effects of Richard Nixon’s foreign policy, and apply lessons learned to today’s myriad global challenges. Such items for discussion will include application of the principles of The Nixon Doctrine; a strategy for balancing American interests in the Middle East; strengthening alliances with noncommunist countries of the Indo-Pacific; and studying how and why President Nixon dealt with Chinese and Russian leaders.
Fittingly, the program will include discussion on how to recruit, educate and encourage the next generation of national security professionals committed to conservative realism.
