On Thursday, March 16, the First Lady Pat Nixon Memorial Highway was officially dedicated at Pat Nixon Park in Cerritos, California, the hometown of the former First Lady.
Recently, the California State Legislature designated a 2.5 mile stretch of the 91 Freeway through Cerritos as First Lady Pat Nixon Memorial Highway.
The official resolution, passed with bipartisan support in both the California State Senate and State Assembly, reads that “throughout her lifetime of service, Mrs. Nixon fundamentally transformed the roles of both Second Lady and First Lady, redefining them for an entire generation of people who would follow her.”
Nixon Foundation Board Member Maureen Drown Nunn, Cerritos Mayor Chuong Vo and Nixon Foundation President Jim Byron spoke at the ceremony held on what would have been Pat Nixon’s 111th birthday.
