On June 12, 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. became the fifth person to participate in the Richard Nixon Foundation’s 2024 Presidential Policy Perspectives series. The Independent candidate delivered his vision for American foreign policy if elected president to an audience in the East Room of the Nixon Library.
Kennedy reflected on the personal relationship that President Nixon had with the Kennedy family, especially his uncle, President John F. Kennedy. As World War II veterans, the two future presidents entered Congress in the same year. Kennedy noted that while they would become political rivals, the two men both had an intense interest in foreign affairs and entered the White House with a clear vision.
Several times, Kennedy spoke about President Nixon’s leadership during the Cold War and his approach to conducting foreign policy.
The 2024 Presidential Policy Perspective series was conceived in accordance with President Nixon’s vision for his Library to be a place of discovery, debate and analysis. Invitations were issued to every declared major party candidate for the United States presidency, to visit the Nixon Library and deliver remarks in any format, on any topic. Candidates who have participated in the series include former Vice President Mike Pence, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.
