Ken Khachigian, Director Emeritus of the Richard Nixon Foundation Board of Directors, veteran of nine presidential campaigns and Chief Speechwriter and Senior Political Adviser for President Reagan, debuted his gripping memoir, Behind Closed Doors: In the Room with Reagan & Nixon, on July 23 at the Nixon Library.

Mr. Khachigian’s remarks reflected on his unique experience as an adviser and strategist to both Presidents Nixon and Reagan and his role as an intermediary between the two political giants. He kept detailed notes and a recorded diary during his political career and his book shares his accounts of history-making events. These include never heard before stories such as his time with President Nixon shortly after his resignation in August 1974, an insider’s view of the Frost/Nixon interviews and the secret memos and phone calls between Nixon and Reagan during the presidential campaigns of 1980 and 1984. Khachigian provides personal, insider access to the shaping of post-Cold War America at the highest levels.

Governor Pete Wilson, 36th Governor of California, introduced Ken Khachigian with personal reflections on his political career remarking, “He’s [Ken] been not just a witness but he’s played a critical role in determining the outcome of truly world-leading initiatives.”
