Nixon Library Admission & Event Changes in Accordance with the January 9, 2025 National Day of Mourning
The President of the United States has declared Thursday, January 9, 2025 as a National Day of Mourning to remember President Jimmy Carter.
As such, the National Archives and Records Administration will close all of its nationwide facilities, which includes presidential museums and research rooms, on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
January 9, 2025 would have been President Richard Nixon’s 112th birthday. To ensure that those who wish to are able to pay respects at the Memorial of President Nixon, the grounds of the Nixon Library —including President Nixon’s Memorial Site and the Birthplace of President Nixon— will remain open to the public while the museum experience will be closed.
Guest admission will be as follows on January 9, 2025:
- Adults: $8
- Seniors (62+): $6
- High School and College Students (with ID): $5
- Retired Military: $5
- Active Military: Free
- Children (5–11): $5
- Children (4 and under): Free
- Nixon Foundation Members: Free
Commemoration Ceremonies Marking President Nixon’s Birthday
The ceremonies commemorating President Nixon’s 112th birthday will now take place on Friday, January 10, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM.
The event will include:
Presidential Wreath Laying Ceremony: A wreath sent on behalf of the President of the United States will be placed to honor President Nixon.
Reflections on President Nixon’s Legacy: Distinguished guests will share stories and insights about President Nixon’s life and contributions. Featured speakers include Rear Admiral Robert Nowakowski, Deputy Commander, Naval Education and Training Command – Force Development, and Fred Mendoza, a Member of President Nixon’s Cabinet Committee on Spanish-Speaking People.
Formal Presentation of the Colors by United States Marines.
Musical Performance by Navy Band Southwest: Enjoy a moving tribute from one of the U.S. Navy’s premier bands.
Admission to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum will be free on January 10, 2025.
