Middle schoolers will showcase their civics knowledge while competing for a chance to win $100,000 and advance to the California State Finals.

On March 12, 2025, the first regional competition of The National Civics Bee® in California will take place at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California. 

The event, sponsored by partnership between The Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce and the Richard Nixon Foundation, will welcome participating 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. The top three winners of the local competition will advance to the California State Finals at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library to compete for a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Championship for the chance to win the grand prize of $100,000.

The National Civics Bee is an initiative of The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation whose mission is to inspire young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. To enter the competition middle school students are invited to submit a response to a 3-question essay prompt proposing ideas to improve their communities.  

Fostering a deep understanding of civics and government among our young students is critical to the vibrancy of democracy and civic life in America.
