Ken Khachigian has participated in nine presidential campaigns, six of them at senior strategic and staff levels.
He began in Richard Nixon’s 1968 campaign as a writer and policy analyst. Ken served as Chief Speechwriter for Ronald Reagan’s landslide victory over Jimmy Carter in 1980. Political writer, Anthony York, referred to Khachigian as “an architect of Ronald Reagan’s 1980 White House victory.” In 1984, he was Issues Director, Chief Speechwriter and Senior Political Adviser for Reagan-Bush re-election.
He has served on campaigns for Vice Presidential nominee Dan Quayle for the victorious Bush-Quayle ticket in 1988, National Senior Advisor and California campaign manager for Bob Dole’s presidential campaign in 1996, National Security Advisor for John McCain’s presidential campaign in 2000, advisor to the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2000, and Senior Adviser to the campaign of former Senator Fred D. Thompson in 2008.
